August 30, 2005 Hello folks, this is Jim (the Cook) with a Rooster New flash.

Help us support Gulf disaster victimsHello, folks, this is Jim (The Cook) with a personal appeal today. This Rooster News reaches over 600 people in Hollister and elsewhere, so I wanted to put it to good use. You've all heard about the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina on Monday. Hundreds dead, tens of thousands of people without homes, and over $26 Billion in damages. The city of New Orleans is flooding more and more as I write this. In short, the most disastrous Hurricane ever to hit the United States. Brenda and I have a special place in our hearts for New Orleans and its people. You may have noticed that we offer a number of New Orleans dishes on the Running Rooster menu. Chef Paul Prudhomme, a friend of the business, lives in the midst of the flooding. The organization doing the most to help the victims is undoubtedly the American Red Cross. They have mobilized thousands of people to help, and they need help from the rest of us to pay for it all. We were scheduled to offer Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Gumbo Wednesday through Friday. Brenda and I would like to donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of that Gumbo to the Red Cross' Hurricane 2005 fund. Quantities of the Gumbo will be limited so if we sell out or you prefer another selection for dinner, we encourage you to just make a donation. You can drop a check (in any amount) made out to the Red Cross - Hurricane 2005 at the store and we will see that it gets delivered. The 600-plus people on this list can make a difference as every dollar helps . We the citizens of Hollister can actually do something for the people of Mississippi and Louisiana, fellow Americans, who are suffering from this disaster. Thanks, -Jim |
