January 30, 2006   (Look for the subscribers discount!)

Hello folks, this is Jim (the Cook) with a Rooster News Flash.

Superbowl Specials on Saturday

Yes, the Superbowl (Superbowl XLVIICCMXLVDGCQTY, I think) is finally here.  Pittsburgh vs. Seattle doesn't exactly have a strong local angle, but it always makes for a fun Sunday nevertheless.  For those of you looking to have a little football festivity this coming weekend, we're making it easier by providing the munchies.  And these are the perfect kind of football party snacks:  spicy, tasty, and not the least bit healthy.  Perfect with beer or soda.

We'll be offering two kinds of chicken wings - the traditional spicy buffalo wings as well as some teriyaki wings made with a special teriyaki marinade from Left Coast Trading, a local Hollister company.  Their dips are delicious and will be on sale soon in the store.

We'll also have a bunch of our home-made fire-roasted tomato salsa, delicious fresh-made guacamole, a classic cheddar chili dip, and locally made tostada chips to go with them.  The only thing you'll be missing is the beer (can't help you on that one, sorry).

Best of all, we're putting our ever-popular Memphis BBQ Loin Ribs on sale, Saturday only, for $7.99 a pound (that's 20% off).  So along with all the snacks, you can lay out a great rib meal to get you through what ever lame half-time show they have planned this time.

Here's our menu for this week.  If you have any questions or wish to reserve something, please call the store at 831-634-0135.  To see a description of any of these items, go to our online menu.  We have a higher than usual number of vegetarian dishes this week because of the Seventh Day Adventist Christian School fundraiser.

Note:  All menu items may be subject to substitution or selling out, depending upon our suppliers, our customers' appetites, and the whims of Jim (The Cook).

DINNER:  Roast Turkey Dinner

Roast Turkey and Gravy for those who think that Turkey Dinner shouldn't be limited to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We cook this turkey just like we do the special order ones at the holidays - fresh tender hens marinated in fresh thyme and other seasonings, then slow roasted to juicy perfection.  Have some green beans and mashed potatoes with the turkey gravy we'll include for a really nice meal.  We'll have cranberry sauce too, but no stuffing this time around.  We'll also have pumpkin pie in the store if you would like to add dessert.

SPECIAL RETURN ENGAGEMENT:  Picasso Pizza

There's more than a couple people who wish we still did our Friday take-n-bake Picasso Pizzas.  Well we've decided to bring them back occasionally, perhaps the last Friday of every month.  Ours is a 14" pizza made with fresh dough, house-made tomato sauce with fresh herbs, and a blend of gourmet cheeses on top.  Weighs over 2 pounds before toppings!  Simply take your pizza and choice of toppings home, place the toppings on the pizza however you like, bake it in your own oven, and enjoy a really great home-made pie.  Let the kids put on the toppings for extra fun!  Regular toppings are pepperoni, sausage, and sautéed baby Portobello mushrooms.  Quantities limited.

Weekly Subscriber Discount

This week's special subscriber discount phrase is "Hey look!  It's a wardrobe malfunction!".  Remember this phrase for a 10% discount on everything you buy in the store this week.  We may not remember who played in Superbowl XXXVIII, but we remember the trumped-up publicity stunts.
