Hello again, folks, this is Jim (the Cook) with your latest Rooster News.

Speedy Lunch Service

I've always believed that the best sandwich is one made on fresh baked bread from fresh roasted meats and really fresh veggies, and apparently many of you agree, prompting us to add a few more seats in the dining area (and more to come).  And now that our lunch service is starting to get noticed and more popular, we see the line getting a little longer from time to time, especially around 12:00 to 12:30.  I know that can be discouraging to you busy business people who need to get in, get out, and get back to the grind with your to-go sandwich, soup, or salad.  For that reason, we've added an express option to our lunch service.  While lunch is available from 11:00AM to 3:00PM, the express lunch is available from 11:30AM to 1:00PM.

The express lunch menu consists of our most popular signature sandwiches and salads pre-made fresh each morning at 11:30, ready to grab and go (Roast Beef, Turkey, and Ham Sandwiches, and Chicken Apple Walnut and Caesar Salads).  Not available pre-made are the hot sandwiches (Pulled Pork and Pastrami), the new Portabella Mushroom veggie sandwich (it gets too soggy) and the soup of the day.  Just walk up and tell the Rooster-ite behind the counter you want a quick ready-made sandwich or salad, and we'll have it in the bag and rung-up on the register double-time.  Of course, if you want to have it made your way, we will still make you a sandwich or salad on the spot, just the way you like it.

And if you ever need a bunch of sandwiches on a platter for a meeting, just call us (634-0135) and we will have them ready when you come in.  Someone is available to take your order starting at 8:00AM.  Orders for more than 12 sandwiches should be made the day ahead so we can bake enough bread.

This Month's Fundraisers

As you all know I'm sure, each week Running Rooster gives a school or community non-profit an opportunity to participate in raising funds through purchases at Running Rooster.  Anytime a person associated with an organization or a school (parent, volunteer, member, etc.) comes in and makes a purchase during that organization's fundraising week, Running Rooster donates 10% of the proceeds from that purchase to the organization.  The key however is that the person associated has to tell us about their association (we aren't very good at guessing who's involved with the PTO and who isn't).

We have a variety of organizations lined up for the weekly fundraisers in March.  This first week (6th through 10th) is Sacred Heart School.  After Sacred Heart, the week of March 13th through 17th is Kinderville, and the week of March 20th through 24th is the San Benito Stage Company's fundraising week.  Finally, we close out the month with St. Benedict's Church the week of March 27th through 31st.

Seafood Enchiladas

Another of our new Lenten menu specials is coming up this Friday.  Seafood Enchiladas starts with super fresh tortillas made right here in Hollister and wraps them around a creamy shrimp and fish filling that is pleasantly accented with green onions and fresh cilantro.  Then we top those with a house-made tomatillo sauce that isn't too spicy.  I think you will like these.

Morning Coffee Service

We have been opening the store this past week at 8:00AM for anyone who may want a nice cup of freshly brewed Peet's Coffee™ in the morning.  No big hoopla or anything, just thought you might like to know.

Subscribers Discount

One of our store Rooster-ites, Alicia (a.k.a. "Stitch" within Running Rooster, but that's another story), just busts a gut whenever she hears that old Abbot and Costello routine "Who's on First".  So in honor of Lou Costello, whose birthday is today, March 6th (1906), this week's secret discount phrase is "I Don't Know is on third".  Remember to use this phrase for a 10% discount on every order at Running Rooster (including lunch).
