Hello folks, this is Jim (the Cook) with a Rooster News Flash.

St. Patrick's Day Specials

Last year we were caught somewhat unprepared for the requests of Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patrick's Day.  Well, not this year.  We'll be ready with another round of the traditional favorite for all you wannabe leprechauns out there.  Starting with nice tender corned bottom round, we braise it with traditional seasonings and root vegetables until it is deliciously tender.  A bit of an Irish pot roast, each order comes with the beef, carrots, potatoes, a mustard sauce, and of course, the cabbage.  You have to supply your own green beer.  $15.99 per 2-person order including vegetables.

If you don't want to eat corned beef  this Friday, we have another option for you.  Not exactly Irish, but at least it's green:  our popular Linguine al Pesto.  Totally vegetarian, extraordinarily green, it seems a good choice for St. Patrick's.

As with all of our holiday specials, reserving your order ahead of time (634-0135) might be a good idea.

Here's our menu for this week.  If you have any questions or wish to reserve something, please call the store at 831-634-0135.  To see a description of any of these items, go to our online menu.

Lunch Soup:  Soups this week are going to be Cream of Broccoli (Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday) and Clam Chowder (Thursday & Friday).

Note:  All menu items may be subject to substitution or selling out, depending upon our suppliers, our customers' appetites, and the whims of Jim (The Cook).

NEW:  Teriyaki Chicken

We're putting the Left Coast Trading Company's Teriyaki marinade we sell in the store to good use in this recipe.  We de-bone a half chicken, leaving the drumstick and wing bones intact, and marinate it in the teriyaki sauce until it absorbs the flavors without becoming too strong.  Then we roast the chicken with some of the marinade until it is tender and moist with a delicious teriyaki glaze on top.
    $8.99 - half chicken

Special Friday Sandwich:  Shrimp Po' Boy

We quietly tried these last Friday and folks seemed to love them so I'm spreading the word.  On Friday's during Lent, we have, in addition to the regular lunch menu, a new sandwich:  a New Orleans style Shrimp Po' Boy.  These sandwiches are made on a soft white sandwich roll with a shrimp salad using cocktail shrimp from Papa Joe, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and the special ingredient - authentic house-made Cajun Remoullade sauce.  It's the sauce that gives it a little extra kick.  A great deal at only $5.99!

Seafood Enchilada Feedback?

I thought the seafood enchiladas last week turned out even better than I had hoped.  I'm considering whether to include it in the regular menu rotation (we added it as a one-time special).  If you tried them and have a comment, please let me hear from you.  Thanks.

Weekly Subscriber Discount

With St. Patrick's Day this Friday, it only seems fitting that this week's phrase be related to this traditional day of revelry and abundant green.  Therefore, this week's discount phrase is:  "Will you be selling any Blarney, then?"  Remember to use this phrase for a quick 10% discount on every order throughout this week at Running Rooster.
